We need people to collect, sort, pack and deliver good quality donations around Australia

Located at 4A/143 St Vincents Rd Virginia Brisbane

Connected is a group of extraordinary volunteers who were brought together by disability pensioner Craig Michaels at the beginning of the floods in January 2011. The need for quality goods and essentials was immediate and demanding for flood victims. After seeing the extent to which other charities were overwhelmed by the generosity of the Australian public, Craig realised that the established charities were not able to process the sheer bulk of the donations pouring in.

Connected offered to assist Red Cross with a group of volunteers to ‘sort‘ the donations and get them out to the people in need immediately.

As soon as this was authorised, Craig put out a call to Campo at 97.3FM asking the public to donate essential toiletries, cleaning products and towels, as these seemed to be the basics required in any crisis. He also asked for any volunteers willing to help out. In just one weekend, 130 volunteers came to Red Cross and helped to create care packages which consisted of toiletries, cleaning products and two towels. Almost a thousand of these were packaged and distributed to the worst affected areas in the same day. In addition the team were also able to process over four thousand boxes of clothing for Red Cross to be forwarded on to St Vincent’s De Paul.

Why are we Different

During natural disasters, Connected and it’s team of volunteers are able to assist other charities by helping them process the overload of donations. We act immediately and directly to assist people with vital products, at the time they need it most. With corporate sponsors that can provide essential supplies that are needed during these times, Connected are better placed than other charities to provide immediate relief to victims of disasters whether they be natural like the Brisbane floods or tragedy such as victims of arson who have lost their home to fire. They provide the things that families need to get by in the first few days as well as offering assistance to start to re-build. They also assist families by liaising with other community services, such as finding suitable temporary accommodation, to help during the difficult times.

We have come a long way in 2 Years

Connected Inc currently operates out of makeshift warehouse space in Banyo, we are now looking for a permanent home to advance Connected's mission to help all in hardship.  Since the frenzy of the floods in January, Connected has continued to help thousands of people in need.
